Period Russian Scroll Closure

The following are exerpts from actual period (with one exception) Russian documents that provide period Russian texts that can be modified to make SCA-style award scrolls.

The single out-of-period text, from 1785, covers themes perfectly suited to SCA award scrolls, and also includes feminine versions of the traditional royal titles, so I've included it even though the language is straying from the Old Slavonic style of the period documents.

With my crude translations, you probably need to have a fairly good understanding of Russian to use these. The texts contain many words and phrases that I do not fully understand yet, but I'll keep working on them. And I hope the information will be useful even in this form.

А к месной грамоте князь великий велел бояром своим руки приложить и дьяком... ...К сей грамоте архимандрит печерской Иона руку приложил; да казенной боярин Юрья Иванов сын Курмышев, да великого князя дьяк Иван Сумароков руку приложил, да указной дьяк Василей Иванов сын Нагова руку приложил, да к сей же грамоте великого князя указной же дьяк Юрья Григорьев руку приложил А такова подлинная великова князя месная грамота в Нижнем Новеграде в Печерском монастыре

But to the local certificate the great prince ordered by boyarom his hand to apply by clerk... ... to this certificate arkhimandrite pecherskoy Ion hand it applied; and the fiscal boyar Yur'ya Ivanov son Kurmyshev, and great prince clerk Ivan Sumarokov hand applied, and by standard clerk Vasili Ivanov son Nagova hand applied, and to this same certificate of the grand prince standar clerk Yur'ya Grigoryev hand applied to But is such authentic grand prince local certificate in lower Novegrade in Pecherskiy monastery -- Mid-to-late 14th century document that seems to be confirming the positions of subordinate nobles.  (Dmitri Konstantinovich was a rival of Dmitri Donskoi.)

А крепости деля, яз Князь Данило Дмитриевич Холмский Оспадарю своему Великому Князю Ивану Васильевичу целовал есми честный и животворящий крест, и дал есми на себя сию свою грамоту за подписью и за печатью осподина своего Геронтия Митрополита всея Руси.  А дана грамота на Москве, месяца Марта 8 день лета 6982 (1474). А подпись у сей грамоты Митрополича Геронтьева такова: Смиренный Геронтей Митрополит всея Руси. -- Клятвенная запись князя Холмского Ивану III. 8 марта 1474 года.

But fortresses if divide [made?], I prince danilo Dmitriyevich Kholmskiy to my Ospadaryu Great Prince Ivan Vasilyevich kissed esmi the honest and life-giving cross, and gave esmi to himself his certificate after signature and after seal of his ospodina Gerontius Metropolitan of all Rus. But is given certificate in Moscow, the month of March 8 day of summer 6982 (1474). But signature in this certificate of Metropolicha Geront'eva is such: Humble Gerontey Metropolitan of all Rus -- Pledge record of the prince of Kholm to Ivan III. 8 March 1474.

А на то послуси: Василий Иванович Замытской, да Иван Кондратьевич Судимонт, да Иван Зиновьевич, да дьяки Великого князя Олексей Полуехтович, да Василий Долматов. А запечатал сю грамоту поручную яз Иван Микитинич своею печатью. -- Порученная запись Ивана Воронцова по Князе Холмском в 250 рублей (150 рублей.) Писана 1474 года.

And on that heard: Vasiliy Ivanovich Zamytskoj, and Ivan Kondrat'evich Sudimont, and Ivan Zinov'evich, and the clerks of the Great prince Oleksey Poluyekhtovich, and Vasiliy Dolmatov. But sealed up this certificate charge/trust I Ivan Mikitinich by his seal. -- Charge [commission/trust] record of Ivan Vorontsov according to Prince Kholmskiy in 250 rubles (actually should be 150 rubles.) Written 1474

А сесь список велел есми подписати духовнику своему Ивану, печатнику, и печать свою приложил… -- Духовная грамота удельного князя Верейскаго Около 1486 г.

And this list ordered esmi undersigned his confessor Ivan, to printer [seal keeper?], and his seal applied... -- Spiritual certificate [will] of local prince Vereyskago About 1486.
