Making a "Type 3" Povoinik or Ochipok

This cap was based on the drawings of a povoinik or ochipok on a now-defunct webpage about traditional Siberian Headdresses.

Approximate Sizing:

You may want to add enough extra width over the ears to turn up a wide edge band to match the Siberian original, i.e. enough width to fold the red stripe here up to form a band instead of just coming down straight and smooth.

This is just a mock-up with a conveniently sized and decorated dish cloth pinned into place. Normally, the cap would lay more smoothly.
